2007 Australian Ranking of ICT Conferences

May 2007 Update

  • An enormous number of change templates and emails have been received for the preliminary rankings listed above.
  • Many suggestions have been received for changing the descriptions of the top two tiers.
  • The change templates are being processed. (March/April 2007)
  • The CORE Rankings Subcommittee will examine the proposed changes and various suggestions for tier revision. (April/May 2007)
  • The revised ranking lists have now been posted (late May)
  • The Rankings Subcommittee will then re-examine the preliminary journal rankings and the suggestions for change to those, in the light of the revised conference rankings.(early June)
  • These lists will then be the definitive lists for the RQF. (DEST has requested no changes after June.)
  • The next set of updates will be at the end of 2007.


Australian Attendance at Ranked Conferences

For the information of Australian Computing Departments, available DEST data indicate attendance at conferences ranked in the attached list is approximately:

A+ 6%
A 14%
B 44%
C 36%


Again, it should be stressed that many Australian conferences (automatically) ranked B are important in terms of networking, developing the local community, and for PhDs and Early Career Researchers.
